Job Description


The Jr Systems Administrator is accountable for performance of FCR computer networks across the company, including the design, operation, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, wiring plant, servers, and documentation, as well as collaborating with other members of the technical team. The Jr. Systems Engineer is a member of the technical staff, and reports to the Vice President of Technology. While there are no direct reports to this position, the Systems Engineer indirectly supervises colleagues during projects (for example, in an effort to coordinate the installation and configuration of deployments and various systems). In concert with others, this colleague also participates in the execution of projects to improve the technology platform that supports our clients.


  • Review and close tickets on a daily basis

  • Assist in writing documentation as needed

  • Assist in the development of new policies or procedures

  • Maintain a general knowledge of internet and computer security policies and best practices

  • Assist with the IT implementation of projects such as building servers, deploying software, doing configurations, etc

  • Working with the IT team to help train and assist them in network or systems questions

  • Other duties as might be necessary from time to time


Experience and Skills



  • Bachelor of Computer Science or other engineering degree preferred but not required

  • At least 2 years working in the technology space

  • Understanding of Windows, Linux, Common Hacking Practices

  • Proficiency in using Google Mail, Google Docs, Outlook, MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.

  • Takes initiative in situations in anticipation of needs.

  • Proactive, creative and effective problem solver.

  • Skilled in organizing tasks and establishing priorities.

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and willing to pitch in where needed.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

  • Will be required to travel to the different offices at least once per month or more often as needed

  • Technical skills: Troubleshooting and sequential problem resolution, solid understanding of networking, telecom, server, and desktop technologies, as well as common server and desktop operating systems, server applications, and desktop applications. Particular strengths in:

  • Windows and Linux Operating Systems

  • Some familiarity with Cisco / Adtran network equipment

  • Active Directory maintenance and Group Policies

  • Virtualization and/or Isolation technologies such as Hyper-V

  • Good understanding of information security
